AC or no AC
I don't know what to write about.. but i want to say something. lets see where this goes. its hot in hyderabad and I am grateful for the AC. People working in offices with ACs must be attending office regularly, someone said.I agree.
I would too and feel very good about myself..working through this scorching summer. But its not the same when you work at home or work from home. Only my bedroom has the AC and working in the bedroom is not a very exciting idea. And since its so hot elsewhere, I move to the bedroom and sleep. As I drift into unconsciousness an endless stream of thoughts unconnected, flit across...should I be switching the AC on..waste of power, pollution, heavy bills and so on...so all in all not a very 'feel good' experience.
Having grown up in a middle class family with no AC even in the hottest of climes..(have been at Godavarikhani when temperatures touched 50 degrees C).. its probably a 'core belief' about what's 'good' and 'not good'. These days, many 'middle class' people have Acs at home... for me having an AC and using it and feeling good about it is a slow process requiring a 'shift' in consciousness to the next level.
I've noticed that its always easy to use the AC when Anjali needs it. That's another of those 'value' based things. If someone else needs it, its always Ok. Only when I need it, do all the doubts come. Clear case of low self worth, I would say.

its about the conflict of giving and getting ........you would get the comfort but will give Anjali the comfort.........
ReplyDeleteAC lagao aur mast mein so jao...
ReplyDeleteI have no more qualms...I used to. Reaching Nagpur at the ripe old age of 49, and facing temperatures in the same range, I am convinced an AC or a cooler is a must, simply coz you'd die without one.....and yes, I attend office religiously!
ReplyDeleteYou have put down the conflict in my mind. I had/have the same guilt issues what with the source of the guilt just one wall away.
ReplyDeleteBut my new treatment for this issue is saying-
"I love and thank the inventor of the airconditioner"
It's true.
