Happy to be a Catalyst for Change

Background Uma couldn’t sleep all night after a disagreement over property with her siblings. She felt powerless, because they knew her weakness and were using it to emotionally manipulate her into giving them what they wanted. (They threatened to withdraw emotionally and physically, and take her father too, who was too unwell to choose on his own). She was angry and felt hurt and betrayed by her family. Flashes of past events kept coming up. More importantly, she couldn’t feel her body at all. She had gone numb. The body goes numb when it perceives it would be extremely painful if it doesn't. It is built to minimize pain and choose pleasure (based on its past experience and core subconscious beliefs). That was when she reached out to me. History Uma has been on a self-awareness journey with me for some time (especially in the last year). We had done some personal therapy sessions and she joined group sessions for expansion of awareness and consciousness. So she was aware of wh...

Father's Day

Image
I’m glad Hari is the father of my(our?) daughter. He’s a wonderful, expressive, communicative father. He asks questions, listens, gives space, teaches and learns from her. (Well most of the time, except when he’s caught up with his stresses-sometimes). He’s very gentle and loving. Well, Anjali may have some issues, but this is from what I see and sense.  Celeb rating Father's day reminds me of my father and my relationship with my father. He was soft and gentle with me and didn’t interfere with my mother’s style of parenting which was different. He woke me up early to study for my Board Exams -   with a cup of tea and stayed awake so I don’t fall asleep. Motivated me to do well in the 7th boards by promising me a watch (a very big deal- not approved by mom at the time), bought me a Kinetic when I got my first job(he intended it as a gift!) and so much more. I was with him in the last - couple of years of his life - took him around on my Kinetic sometimes. L...
Why I think Sushant's death is a spiritual big picture event, meant to shake us up, as a community and as individuals: Sushant was definitely on a mission..he had so many projects and plans to make a difference in  so many areas and also enjoy life here and on the moon and in space and help kids, nasa,  astronomy, gaming, ai, you name it….flood relief, disaster relief and so on…. Little did he know (or did he know ?) that the biggest change he would bring in the world was by  dying. The upheaval in bollywood, so many crazy things ,criminal things, bullies, conspiracies,  competition, insecurities coming to light, murders, hush ups, mafia connections… things we  always suspected are being part of direct confrontations now. More and more people willing to  speak up against the injustices( there will also be people who take advantage of the situation  and make up stories to their advantage).  I was pleasantly surprised to see AR Rah...

27th August 2019

It's been a while. I believed that writing a blog regularly is good. And I didn't write regularly. I just checked - the last one i wrote was in 2017. And yet I continued to believe that it was a good thing to write a blog regularly. Guess how that made me feel? Not good.  What's the advantage in holding on to that thought if I'm not doing it? Did it motivate me? Not at all...if anything, it made me criticize and judge myself as lazy, unambitious, unmotivated, can't write and so on. Can I drop that thought then and be free to write when I want to? Not because it's good for me or for my business. I have so much to share. My experiences with clients and workshops. My own growth with every facilitation I do. I intend to do so in a book or maybe this blog. One by one. When the time is right. And not a moment before. No stress. If you have any questions you want to ask me, you're welcome. I can answer those...that way I know what to write about.. .  ...

Being the Light

Image
" Mamma, Mamma!" I could hear excitement and joy in Anjali's voice. I was in the kitchen, cooking. "What?" I said. " The lamp's gone out. Can I light it again?" Still very excited. " Yes, go ahead". Anjali was excited because she would get to use matchsticks to light the lamp again. It was new to her. I felt a funny sensation. An excitement of sorts at what had just happened. An A-HA moment I think. What had that just taught me? A lamp going out is something to be excited about. Because it gives me an opportunity to light it again. Not something to cry and worry about. Which is what I am generally tuned to doing. "Oh, this happened to me; that happened; This is so terrible; There is only darkness; why me?" . These are the usual victim stories we get into when something happens. This is the usual reaction to a 'lamp' going out and leaving us in darkness. How excited we would be if we saw this as an oppor...

Dr Inamdar’s Diet Plan

Dr. Inamdar’s diet is pretty easy to follow, if you are committed to your health and fitness. Which I was, having neglected both for as long as I can remember. No regular exercise, no control or attention over the quality or quantity of food and drinks (alcoholic and non) I was ingesting had had its toll on my body and health. He wanted to know if I had the commitment to getting healthier- physically, mentally, emotionally – he confirmed that they were all connected. I had been working on the mind and emotions for some time; I became serious about my physical fitness last year (2016) and joined the Hyderabad Runners’ mentoring program for runners/non-runners to get ready for the 5k run. I was excited because it was just what I was looking for – to kickstart my fitness routine. I really enjoyed it and looked forward to waking up early, driving to KBR park where the group met, stretched, and walk/ran for 30-40 minutes every other day.  Alas! On the third day, my knee buckle...

When you're angry and you know it, 'tap your hands'!

When you're angry and you know it, 'tap your hands'! Who doesn't get angry? You don't? Good for you! If you are like me, you do get angry every once in a while... Nothing wrong with that. Only if the anger energy isn't expressed in positive ways, it affects your mind and body and sits there and causes dis-ease. Today, it is generally accepted that anger held for a long time becomes resentment and eats away at the body and cause many serious illnesses including cancer. When you are triggered by a small things into being unreasonably angry, it is all the old, stored anger shooting out like a volcano erupting. That's a clue that you need to work with someone who can help you release all that old anger. You can do it in workshops, in small group sessions, or in an individual one-on-one session. As with all unresolved emotions, there is a 'root cause(s)' for the issue which is usually 'unconscious' and working with a therapist helps you...

Magnificent Self

Image
I am a human being. I seek more. More happiness. More love. More peace. And end up getting more stressed. Then I start looking at life differently. Was what I was seeking all wrong? What was I supposed to do then as a human? In this world of duality, of good and bad, right and wrong, more and less, of beautiful and ugly, I chose what I was told was the right choice. I didn't realise I could choose to be whatever I wanted to be in a given moment, in a given situation. Because I was told that getting approval from others for who you are is just as important. Today I know that I am all the qualities that exist- good and bad, cool and uncool and when I need, I can call forth what I need- aggression, dominance, loud, soft, strong, fearful etc... That I am a magnificent human being like all other human beings and have the potential to express that in my own unique way in this world. I know it, but I'm a long way from being able to 'be it'. Well, its a journey an...

Stop yourself from Stopping Yourself

Image
I find myself doing this...start exercise and then stop, start healthy eating habits , then stop. Start doing things at work that improve my situation and then stop. Could a fear of success be one of the reasons for this. Could the fear of getting all that I want be the cause? Could the fear of the downside of success stop me from getting all that I want? If you resonate with any of these, this video might help. Using this everyday for a whole month will start moving the stuck energy around an issue...  Tap along with Brad Yates. Its simple, easy and fun! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kl-jUnzXM6Y Happy Tapping!

Just a Minute! Love Yourself.

Loving yourself means accepting yourself just the way you are. Taking care of yourself, nurturing yourself and supporting yourself in the best way you can... Take a minute to think about the ways you can love yourself today... I love myself, therefore, ________________ (some ideas to get you started: I love myself therefore, I go for a relaxing walk.  I love myself therefore, I cook myself some hot and healthy soup. I love myself therefore, I listen to my body's messages. and so on. You can do whatever feels like loving yourself. ) The more you love yourself, the more you are able to give and share.

Judgment

What makes us so angry at someone else's opinion ? Why do we feel the need to express this judgement to someone else? Why are we not able to just say... okay..that is what she thinks or feels and I don't agree. I feel or think like this. Why does something have to be right or wrong... they are just thoughts or opinions. And every one of us is capable of thinking thoughts. We are also capable of changing our opinions about things. It is just how we see it at that point in time with the awareness, understanding and knowledge we have. By the same token, what is wrong with being angry with someone, if that's your truth at that point.
The Radical Forgiveness Ceremony - To transform all your victim stories into those of gratitude. Colin Tipping has combined the ancient healing circle ceremony with the Radical Forgiveness process  which enables people to automatically forgive themselves and many others, all at the same time, without having to reveal their story.  It is a safe, non-threatening and powerful healing experience. Today was the first time I was leading such a ceremony and I was confident, although a little nervous. As Hari was driving me to the venue, he said, "Just shift the focus to 'what is best for everyone who is coming for the ceremony', don't worry about your performance. Just be the channel ". Sound advice that brought me down to earth with a thud...   What happened in this ceremony? A brief introduction about the concept of Radical Forgiveness and then everyone walked the circle once to silently honor and witness their ‘story’ of what happened. As they see others...

Do I like myself?

Why should it matter what someone thinks about me or my work? Why do they compare? Why do I feel 'less than' whenever I compare myself with anyone? When did I decide that everyone else is better at whatever I do or whatever I am? And I have been trying to get the better of everyone else and failing miserably. Its my core belief about myself - that I'm not good enough, no matter what I do and everyone else is better. Today I noticed it again. When people are praising me in isolation, I feel good. When I'm compared, I feel totally down. I forget all the praise and all the good things i do and am capable of doing and all the focus is on why I am not like the other person. But I forget that I am me and I have a choice whether I want to be like that. I can listen to the feedback and decide whether I can make a positive change in myself or accept it as their opinion and let it go. We all cant be alike. I have to live my truth. Not copy someone else. I have to accept who I am...

An old letter from Satish

"What does your job involve? What kind of stuff will you be selling? I'm sure you'll do well if you want to. I tried some selling here myself and I wasn't too bad at it, but I simply hated the sales type of job. The only thing I can tell you(beware, here comes free unwanted advice!) is don't be afraid to try things and fail at them. I've done enough of that here last year, and I'm none the worse for it. Life goes on, its no big deal. Of course, I've had the advantage of not having 2000 relatives expecting me to succeed and nagging me all the time. So that made it easy for me to quit what I didn't like. Now I'm practically below poverty line, but I'm happy. All our lives we're trained to 'succeed', to get the 1st rank, etc. and pretty soon the fun goes out of work if there's too much pressure. Anyway, enough philosophy from me. You are smart enough to live your life your way." These are excerpts from a letter Satish(my br...

The Immortals of Meluha

I liked 'The Immortals of Meluha'. It was like the Radical Forgiveness process unfolding...the victim story, the feelings due to the assumptions and judgments, leading to more distance and finally war and questions at the end of the war...who was evil? they or us? was anyone evil at all? then what was the war about? Guilt! And the perfection of it all. The bigger picture! ...Peace! This is what we do on a daily basis- we want love..to receive and to give. Then judgments creep in, then the distance grows, then we fight and may stop talking. At the end of it, are we right? or happy? then why are we in this situation? Using Colin Tipping's Radical Forgiveness Tools, we can collapse the energy that holds this judgment in place and free our blocked energy for other more creative things than for holding on to destructive energies of anger, pain, hurt guilt etc.. At the end we see the perfection of whatever happens. This understanding always existed but now it is easy to apply to ...

Be The Change

I attended a workshop " Love Yourself and heal your life" in 2002 by Sailaja that changed the way I looked at myself and my life. The change was obviously not apparent for everyone to see immediately and it was also not what everyone would like to see. Because this change was within me and about loving myself and taking care of my feelings and my emotions. And the techniques were very simple to use and apply. Once you are aware of the changes you want to make and know what you want to create, its a question of focussing on what you want using affirmations, vizualisations etc... and slowly moving away from negative self talk to a positive empowering one. Even if you don't do anything else, only thinking " I love and accept myself exactly as I am" is a potent tool. Saying it when you least feel like it is the key. Since then, I have come a long way -learning new tools and techniques on the way, reading books, meditations, experiencing past-life regression, learni...

Cleaning....

Recently when Aai left for America, I took it upon myself to clean up her place... why would I want to do that, when I could have just relaxed and enjoyed myself. Especially since it appears that she doesn't want anything cleaned up anyway.... I don't know, its almost a compulsive need in me to clean her house. I don't like the fact that she surrounds herself with lots and lots of stuff- from the smallest bit of paper that enters the house to the largest cupboards and shelves... and every bit is preserved. As you can imagine, over the years, the free space is reduced and trash is filled up in every nook and corner. So the 'bai' that comes in doesn't know where to start cleaning, so she doesn't. Result... all surfaces are filled with dust, webs and you name it... Since I visit from time to time, I suggest not without expectation that she should not collect any more stuff or provide storage space for junk in the hope that it might be needed some day, but I gue...

Health

I was attacked by a virus or some bacteria that has caused me unbearable amount of pain and suffering in the last few days. Pain in the throat, ear and throbbing in the whole head...miserable feeling. How do I explain to myself why this happened to me ? Because I needed it for some reason. Some of the likely reasons were : I was overdoing outdoor activities - partying, movie watching, eating out and so on... knowing that i was overdoing it and unable to say 'no' for various reasons. I attended 2 workshops back to back of 'transgenerational healing' and didn't give myself enough time to assimilate and integrate change. Doing a lot of coaching without probably adequate protection of myself or the space... My mother was visiting, Hari was completely drowned in GHS, my maid was being most irritating and so on. Basically too much was happening all at once and it took its toll.. What does this tell me... ... to pay attention to the signs that my body is giving me... I co...

Celebration and Gratitude

Celebrated the successful completion of my workshop "Be the Change" on 3-4 dec. Celebrated it with Hari,Chitra and Anjali, the three people who made it possible for me to go and be at the workshop without any worries about Anjali or the home front! Thank you ! There are many more people I would like to thank who have been supporting me in my growth.. today I know that every person i relate to for a short while or for a long time, supports me directly or indirectly through the lessons that I learn from them. Because my life is a reflection of who I am , everybody is always helping me grow by holding the mirror to me... I see the reflection and I am happy when I like what I see and learn more about myself when I don't like what I see.. So that's an ongoing process and I am grateful to all my teachers... Here I want to thank all my associates and teachers who have actually helped me by being there for me and supporting me when I was not ready to go solo and take respons...
